What every report checks
| Check | What we look at | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Liquidity | Real money in the pools (not the token's own side priced at its own price), how much is locked or burned, and who can withdraw the rest | A pool that can be pulled is the classic rug. A pool that "holds $5M" of a token nobody can sell into holds nothing |
| Launch | Bundled buys in the launch block, snipers in the first second, the first 200 buyers and whether they still hold | Insiders who bought the supply at launch decide when the chart ends |
| Dev wallet | What the creator holds, sold or moved, their creator rewards, and every coin they launched before and how those ended | A dev with 30 launches and no graduations is telling you how this one ends |
| Holders | Top 10 share (pools, lockers and burn addresses taken out), linked wallet groups on a bubble map, brand-new wallets, same-size wallets | One team spread over 50 wallets looks like 50 holders until you check |
| Contract | Mint and freeze authority, risky Token-2022 extensions, editable metadata | A live freeze authority can stop you selling. A live mint authority can print supply |
| Promotion | When it paid DEX and at what market cap, boosts and ads bought in the last week, caller groups and copy-paste X waves | Heavy paid promotion on a falling chart is a known exit pattern |
| Market | Pool age, volume momentum, in-and-out bot volume, sells by dev and insiders right now, the trend on the daily and hourly charts | The same coin can be fine at 9am and dumping at 9:15 |
Four verdicts, scored on real outcomes
Each warning is weighted by how often it actually came before a rug in our record, then the report lands on High risk, Caution, Mixed or No big flags. The weights are re-tuned as the record grows, and the page tells you the rug rate for coins of the same age and liquidity.
Live, not a snapshot
An open report streams the coin's trades from the chain. If the dev or insiders start selling, a red flag appears within seconds. Add a coin to your watchlist and Trenchie re-checks it every five minutes and pushes an alert to your phone when a new rug-class flag shows up.
Then trade it, or don't
The chart, the trades list, the holders and the buy button sit on the same page as the verdict. Buying a coin with a rug-class red asks you twice.
Questions people ask
Is the rug checker free?
Yes. Every report is free, with no sign-up.
Does it work for pump.fun coins?
Yes, including coins still on the bonding curve. Trenchie records every pump.fun launch live, so it sees bundles, snipers and first buyers from the launch itself.
How accurate is it?
Coins with no big flags rugged within a day 6.5% of the time in our record; coins marked High risk, 56%. No checker can promise a coin is safe; the track record shows where the verdict was wrong.
What's the difference between Trenchie and RugCheck?
Both read a token's risk. Trenchie writes it in plain English, weights each warning by our own rug record, adds live trades, dev history and holder shape, and lets you trade from the same page. See Trenchie vs RugCheck.
